It’s 3am.
Do you know where your hair scarf is?
As you search the covers in the dark of night, you wonder how long your precious mane has been vulnerable to thirsty cotton of your sheets.
There are several things that I’ve found to be handy solutions to this problem:
- Stay on Satin caps and bonnets are awesome. My favorite is the Satin Edge Bonnet, though there are others that have a drawstring and even a large pocket one with ties. The Satin Edge Bonnet has a firm, but gentle, satin-covered elastic band that goes around the hair line. They are available at Walmart, usually.
- A satin pillowcase, or even satin (or silk) sheets. If you’re a really wild sleeper, you might want to try just covering your whole bed in satin so to speak.
- A stocking cap. I don’t know if some of you grew up like I did, but we were big on stocking caps in my house. A nylon cap by itself can be drying to the hair, but worn over your satin stocking or bonnet, it can help keep it in place. Now , for me personally, the nylon caps sold in the stores are too tight. I take on Grandma’s method of cutting off the legs of an old pair of panty hose and tying up the stumps. Ta-da! A recycled stocking cap.

I’ve never tried that stockin cap trick. This seems like the cheapest solution for me right now. *raids house of old pair of stockings*
You just took me back with the stocking caps! LOL…I used to do the same thing…cut off the legs of an old pair and use the “seat” to sleep in and the legs as ponytail holders!
