Review:

Smooth as silk is a great deep conditioner that I have been revisiting lately. I’d been trying to lean towards more natural products, and though it’s ingredients are more natural than most out there, it’s not as “pure” as say AOHSR.

It does offer good detangling properties and provides moisture. The smell is lovely as well. I have used this with and without heat and I definitly prefer it with heat (or at usually with a plastic cap).  One of the best things too is that it is usually available locally, which is always a big plus! It does have some protein in it, so some people may not get along with this DC. I, on the other hand, love protein like I love air, so we get along just fine :)

*Just a note: I heard whispers and rumors that this product may have an ingredient change (ie adding more not so natural ingredients). I bought a bottle recently and it does not seem to have changed, but I will updating if I see that it has.

Will I buy this again? Yes, but that ingredient thing might be a factor.

The ingredient change is the soybean protein I think because i use the 50/50 and the tea tree and i got one of the old bottles and it looks like yours but the new bottles have a dot design instead of leaves and when i compared the two, instead of soybean protein it said soybean extract so maybe that’s it?

I used to see this conditioner locally, but have had a hard time finding it. It’s not listed on the Giovanni website either. What I did find was “Smooth as Silk Deeper Moisture Conditioner”. As Chasity said, it has the dot logo, instead of the leaves.

Ingredients: Purified water; Extracts of Rosemary, Valencia Orange, Mango, Lemongrass, Ginko, Echinacea, Willow Bark, Sea Kelp, Chamomile Leaf, Lavender, Grapefruit, Soybean; Cetyl Alcohol; Stearyl Alcohol; Hydrolyzed Soy Protein; Centrimonium Bromide; Butylene Glycol; Phenoxyethanol; Ethylhexylglycerin; Fragrance with essential oils

I’m still trying to decide how I feel about it. It feels great while it’s in, but after I rinse it out, my hair doesn’t feel as moisturized as I like. I much prefer Aubrey Organics HSR, though I’m bored with the scent of that conditioner.

Seriously: what DOESN’T this conditioner do?! I use it for ERRY’THING to keep my 4a kinks and curls happy: Deep treatments, co-washes, instant detangler, styler for my defined twist-outs, to slick down my hair in the front when wearing a headband/puff, you name it! I love it so much, I bought it in a gallon size. I’m discovering that my hair loves veggie proteins so this conditioner is perfect because it has soy protein! And I love that if I ever run out, it’s available at so many stores!
