Flat Iron/Rollerset-Take 2!

Well my first rollerset a few months ago did not turn out all that great.

I was bound and determined to do a proper rolleset this time. I ended up using Chi Silk Infusion which has cones, but I really don’t want my hair to revert for at least a week, 2 if I can help it. And cones help with that. I work out on a regular basis so we’ll see how this goes :)

So I rollerset my hair following a deep conditioning and air dried. I’d planned to dry under the hooded dryer, but with a 2 year old and never ending housework, it’s hard to go. It took all night, but it dried all the way through.

It wasn’t the best rollerset ever, but it was good for me! I’d like to try rollerset exclusively and my next goal is to rod my hair and see how that goes.

But ANYWAY, I used the maxiglide to flat iron again, except this time I used the smooth plate, the one without the little pins. (I’ll try to get a review on the maxi out this weekend) I used on level 5…it goes all the way up to ten, but I’m too afraid of heat damage to have it that high.

Let me say this, I much preferred rollersetting and then flat ironing to blowdrying and flat ironing. I feel like I lost a less hair and my hair was just smoother. Sleeping in rollers is pain in the you-know-what, but I can handle  it if it means less heat and not being bored for 2 hours.

After flatironing, I oiled my scalp and then ends with Burnt Sugar Pomade which worked great!

I realize now I’ll probably never get my hair perfectly straight anymore. And that’s ok. Straight hair is fun sometimes, but it’s not worth me losing my kinks and curls. And there is a risk everytime you straighten with heat. When I was relaxed, I had to turn the flat iron all the way up to get the straightest hair.

Funny how your priorities change, isn’t it? I hope everyone has a good weekend!

looks great. I prefer this effect as opposed to the stick straight effects. This finish look full of volume and body, which is lovely!
