I am NOT affiliated, friends with, or even know SHIMA from youtube. It was recently brought to my attention from several people that my picture has been posted without my knowledge or permission on youtube.

I was made aware that she sells an oil, and I would like to make it clear that I do not support or use this oil. As far as I know, no product can solely grow hair and this oil is no different. I have this written in the disclaimer section, but please do not use my pictures unless given my permission.
I am taking action to have this picture removed, but was making sure that none of my readers thought I was associated with this person.
Edited to add (4/12/09): Shima has removed the video and I will say that she did take quick action on that once I confronted her.

Hi KC, yes, I say your picture on there last night and was quite surprised myself, I am glad that u r making it kkklear that use of images w/o permission will not be tolerated, especially when endorsement is implied.
She did the same thing on LHCF (shimagate) and went as far as putting up others pictures on her website with fake testimonials and everything.
Maria, I just did a search on LHCF and OMG at the stuff I found. I can’t say anything nice, so I won’t say anything at all.
She’s removed the video for now to edit out the picture.
Ugh, that’s why I hate posting pictures of myself on the internet. Can you watermark all your photos to discourage people from taking them? Can you report her to a mod of LHCF and have them ban her?
Alice, I think I will start watermarking my pics, though she had some watermarked pics in that video. I think she’s already banned from LHCF
Yeah, that’s why I don’t want any pictures of me on the internet as well. Sorry that happened to you. I know things are hard but she’s that desperate that she would steal pictures of people and then write fake testimonials? Dang yo.
The only thing you can do if you intend to put pictures of your hair up (and, well, you kinda have to with a hair blog) is watermark the crap out of it.

I’m sorry that happened. Watermarking does discourage people from taking your pictures. If you put ‘newlyatural.com’ then people will visit your blog to see if you really use it. Watermarking works best for products. I’ve seen people totally copy hair accessory pieces and then use the same picture from the original artist. I’ve seen my ‘Good Hair’ twist picture used as avatars, lol.

Shima makes a hair oil and now has a hair cream she is making and will also market soon. Her oil is made of vegetable oil you can buy in any super market for 2.00 she sells it calling it soybean oil, which if you pick up any bottle of vegetable oil the only ingredient is soybean oil, that is why it is light on the hair.
I am not saying her hair is fake, but she did not grow it with oil more like with chemicals either MTG or Megatec or both, she is not saying but 10 inches in 10 months is just how its done with those chemicals used mainly for horses to keep their coats growing over the winter season.
Sad how Shima can come on and market oil that is just about free and make money on people who dont realize its all a big lie and they can use her oil forever but never reach her hair lengths with out using the same chemicals she had to use.
I tried her oil for over 3 months now. And was very excited to have recieved my very first bottle. I applied the oil as she suggested on her video and instructions on the bottle. Strangely, I notice that with this oil, yeah it smells good and all, and feels slick to the touch, but when I apply it to my own hair and protect my ends as suggested, I noticed that when i take my hair down to see the condition of the ends with the oil, my hair was VERY DRY at the ends and look like the ends were breaking off even more?
I wonder if her mixture is some type of vegetable oil as well? I never had an hair oil that made my hair feel dry and somewhat brittle at the ends? I have not used the entire bottle and have trashed it. I am not impressed with the oil at all, and in the back of her label, there is no ingredients listed? This may not be the same results others may be experiencing, but with my hair (medium/fine texture), it dried the ends out something horrible!
And for the note on hair growth, the oil alone will not grow your hair, it is suppose to protect your ends only…but not even the protection of my ends with this oil even helped? I trashed the Shima oil and went back to what I used before which REALLY kept my ends smooth and soft….I just was not crazy about the smell of my old hair oil regimen. But hey at least that did work! Sorry Shima, It’s a NO GO for me.
Hey Dee…Most oils are not going to moisturize. You need to apply a moisturizer and then an oil to seal in the moisture (if you’re going to use an oil at all). I used to soak my hair in oil and then wonder why it was still dry.
