So I know I said that the Kcurly’s Favorite Things would be my last give-a-way for awhile, but I recieved my additional copy of the book along with this too cute bag from Chicoro the other day. Therefore, one you of you lucky readers will be able to win this (the book, that is).

Me and my cute new bag:

I know a lot of you already have this book, but I know some of you have been thinking about buying it. Here’s your chance! Here and here is more info about Chicoro and her book, including an interview she did for Newly Natural.

I also want to take this time to mention that I really think Chicoro is out to help people figure out their hair. I say this because, despite having published a book full of wonderful information that she is selling, her fotki is still free and open to the public. That says a lot to me. If you’ve read the book already and enjoyed it, please go to Amazon and write a review to show your support.

To enter this giveaway, please email me at kcurly@newlynatural.com with a list of the top 5 reasons you have stopped relaxing your hair. The third person to email me will win the book.

Now, on to my straight hair madness. The humidity here was like 130% so my hair didn’t really stand a chance.

Seriously, I walked outside and almost choked on it. Welcome back, summer in the south. To make matters worst, I fell asleep last night without my scarf or bonnet on and ended up sleeping for about 2 hours on my flannel pillowcase before waking up in a panic to tie my hair down.

Welp, to try and calm my hair down, I tried pin curls for the first time yesterday which I thought turned out pretty well.  I say “for the first time” but really I used to do this a lot back in my relaxed and poor days before I could afford a lot of rollers lol.

I used a little Avocado butter from Texas Naturals (this stuff is so light and rich, I will do a review soon) and I only left them in a few hours. My best friend came over and asked me what it looked like when I would take it down. I replied that I didn’t know, and proceeded to undo them.

I liked it pretty well, though it was still pretty puff.

Pin curls in:

dsc04416After taking them out and I clipped the front back with a tiny clip:

dsc04422Ok, so that was fine, though I ended up putting it up in a ponytail when I took my son out to play at the park.

This morning, I woke up with another unintentional ‘fro LOL. So I took my hair and did some big twists and just used bobby pins to secure the ends. I did not add anymore Avocado butter because my hair was still pretty moisturized.

dsc04433I took those down and tried not to disturb them much. This was the result, which I like:

I’m going to do the same thing tonight but use rollers on the ends. I’ll post pictures if I have time in the morning, assuming it’s not a disaster (or even if it is).

Oooo pretty twists-out results :o ) I’m mad I missed the contest – we’ve been so busy at work I haven’t had time to check out my favorite blogs :o (

I like how you look with the twists pulled back into a pony/bun. That looks like a cute style, even if you didn’t intend it that way. :)

BekkaPoo, I briefly thought the same thing until I saw my husband’s face when he saw it LOL!
