Do we officially have a pill for everything now?
I just had to shake my head at this commercial, though I know a lot of people will probably be excited about it. Just remember that like all medications, this one has potential side effects which include itching, redness, and hyperpigmentation (darkening) of the skin around the eyes.
This reminds me of another pill to straighten hair from our good old pal, L’Oreal. From ABC’s website:
Put down that flat iron. Remove your curlers. And cancel your next Japanese hair straightening appointment. Researchers for L’Oreal in Paris claim they’ve gotten to the root of what causes curls. The answer, they say, lies below your scalp in the hair bulb — which is hook-shaped for curly hair and straight for straight hair.
L’Oreal’s scientists believe those bulbs could be altered using hormones, meaning popping a pill could turn curly hair straight and vice versa.
Dermatologists say it could work.
“I think this could be potentially revolutionary if it actually changed the shape of the bulb within the hair follicle,” said Dr. Diane Berson, a dermatologist at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
L’Oreal said its research could also lead to a pill that changes gray hair back to its original color
Why am I not surprised that L’Oreal, a company that was just recently accused of discrimination of non-white women, would be the first ones to come up with a “No Nappy Pill”.
I think I’ll just stick to my mascara and my kinky hair, thanks.

ugh. why is natural so unacceptable? i would never want to alter anything about myself. what GOD gave me is pretty darn amazing.
What bothers me the most about Lastisse is that it was originally made for people with trichotillomania OR hypotrichosis NOT an “I’m growing my eyelashes long for beauty’s sake” thing
I’ve got nothing for the take-a-pill-to-straighten-your-hair thing though @_@
you know, i agree that we do push the bounds of medicine a lot for beauty perfection, but I can’t criticize, because I henna my hair weekly and apply mega tek to my scalp religiously to get thicker hair. I really feel that my hair is too thin for the look that i want (and the size of my big a$$ dome) so I can’t fault someone for wanting to do something similar for their lashes. i wont lie, i’ve asked myself what would happen if i put mega tek on my lashline because i also want thicker lashes…..
I agree that boundaries have definitely be pushed and it’s a shame that such a product has been approved and advertised and that some would be willing to suffer the risk of the side effects just to improve their image…:(
i’m using mega tek on my lashes…and let me tell ya..that stuff stings a lot…I use a very, very thin eyeliner brush(purchased from an art store) apply very little on the lashline…I will tell in about 4 weeks if this stuff actully does something..there is another hair growth product where folks apply this stuff for their lashes and saying they r getting remarkable results..it cost about 18.00..I forgot the name of the product..
