Weight loss and fitness tools

Here are some online resources that have been aiding me on my weight loss/fitness journey.

Want to start running? Try the Couch to 5k program. If I can run, anyone can. This is how I got started. Hal HIgdon.com also has different training plans for other distance races.

Want some support on your weight loss journey? Try3 fat chicks. Free blogging also available. I like this site because its members don’t all rely on one plan to lose weight. Some people are doing low carb, some are low cal, it just varies.

Want to track your food intake? Try the dailyplate.  It has a huge database with every food you can imagine.  It will tell you how many calories you need to eat based on your weight to lose weight or just maintain it (or gain it). You can also track your exercise and it gives you a “calories burned” estimate. I love the weight graph. I believe blogging is available on this site as well. And that you can twitter your meals, if you’re into that. The basic service is free.

Thinking about trying a triathlon? Try BeginnerTriathlete.com. They have a training log, a race log, and a forum with a lot of other newbies and experts.

Need help with some weight training? Here is a site that has a huge amount of weight training exercises. I like it because they are divided by which area you want to work out and there is a stop motion video of each exercise. Very helpful, especially if you are just getting started.

Do you have a website that’s been helpful to you? Please post it in the comment’s section :)

Hi! I started my weight loss journey a year ago. I reached my goals and then some using sites like those. One of the ones that I really liked was peertrainer.com. It made me daily log what I was eating and what I was doing exercise-wise. It really helped me to see what I was actively doing to lose the weight and helped me pinpoint problem areas. Like if I gained a couple pounds, I could go back to see what I ate and say, well, I can still have that, I just can’t have that much unless I’m willing to spend more time exercising on those days (or what have you).
