Review:
I first used this for trying to smooth my edges back, because that’s what I primarily like pomades for. I got so-so results when doing this. It was not all thatĀ shiny and I had a lot of fuzzy parts. However, I know a lot of people use shea butter to smooth back edges with good results. So keep in mind that it’s never really worked for me. This pomade isĀ very similar to shea butter (which is the first ingredients) because it’s heavy and the same color. However, you won’t be finding any shea butter smell here…I know that’s a big plus with a lot of people.
The consistency is not as thick as regular shea butter either, but still somewhat stiff. When held between the fingers, it melts easily. I tried it again on my ends with a wash n go and found the results pleasantly soft. I reapplied it to dry hair the next day with good results as well, though it took a few minutes to fully absorb.
I also did a few of my twists with it (using very small amounts ) and found it quite moisturizing. You can’t beat the ingredients, they are fabulous.
Will I buy this again? No. Even though it ended up being nice for twists and such, the results were not spectacular enough for me to bypass mixing up my own shea butter batch.

Hi kcurly
Thank you for taking the time to review our Scalp Rescue pomade. This is a collection of plant oils that make it perfect for deep conditioning (thick or course hair, or summer swimmers) but it contains no fixative so provides no hold for smoothing, or twisting.
If you want a combination of deep conditioning, shine and hold for styling then try our Scalp Rescue texture paste. This is still rich in natural plant oils with an added starch based fixing agent – for lustre, definition and detail.
Thanks, Wil.
