So if I am styling dry hair, my main method of stretching my hair is to band it. I normally do it with smaller sections, but found myself short of time once. My hair is now long enough to band two large sections of hair.
After rinsing out my DC, I moisturized with a homemade Shea butter and jojoba oil mixture, and then sealed with grapeseed oil. As I’ve said before, I always seal an oil (grapeseed is lighter) when banding because it can be drying.
Doing it this way did not stretch it as much as banding in smaller sections, but it worked in a pinch. It also took much longer to dry.

Have you tried soaking the bands in your sealing oil? I find that this also helps to reduce the dryness caused by banding.
I just tried banding this past weekend and thought it was alright. Didn’t take a lot of time, but I don’t know if I loved the results. Eh, maybe I’ll try it again some other time.
I’ve heard of people doing what Moni suggested, soaking the bands in oil or moisturizer before using. It might help.
What do you do with your hair afterward? I have only banded my ponytail when I wear it wet.
Moni, I do soak them in oil or conditioner whenever I use ouchless bands. I just don’t trust them on my hair dry.
SA and hypnotic, banding is great for doing dry twists or braids when you don’t want to tear through your shrunk up fro. It’s always painful for me to just let my fro airdry and then try to put in twists. The longer it gets, the worst it gets. I also like to make a bun with banded hair so I don’t have to wear a wet bun instead.
what are the end results of banding the hair, does it have like a wave or crimp effect? and does this work for all hair types, or who with what hair type would this work out best with?
can you show the results of banding the next time you do it?
never mind i see the other post with pics
