Review:

I grew up getting DC’s with cholesterol conditioners so this really took me back.  I’m pretty sure the ones I’ve used contained mineral oil because I used another one after first going natural (Queen Helene’s brand) and it left an unpleasant film over my entire head. It also stank.

I’ve seen the great reviews on this DC recently and, after looking at the ingredients, decided to get it. I  mean, it’s 2 or 3 bucks, why not try it?

I’m glad that I did. The ingredients are not all natural, but it’s not as bad as a lot of conditioners out there. You not only get decent ingredients for your money, but you also get a lot of product.

It made detangling much easier as I applied it. I left it on for about 20 minutes the first time I used it and 15 with heat the second time I used it. Very nice results both times! Soft and moisturized hair!

It’s actually a lot better than some of the more expensive conditioners that I’ve ordered online.

I really love this conditioner. It immediately softens and smoothes my hair when I use it as a deep conditioner. I’ve even used it as a leave-in to do my twists, and gotten soft, moisturized twists with surprisingly no buildup. I need to get some more!

Gotta say, I didn’t really like it as much as I thought I would. I mean, it’s okay when I mix a few other condish with it, but otherwise?

Eh.

I LOVE this stuff!!! I use it as a leave-in conditioner and it is THE best! It makes my hair feel soft, smooth & silky & the price is phenomenal.

I LOVE this conditioner! I usually mix melted shea butter, honey, grapeseed oil & jojoba oil in it and leave on for 45-60 minutes. It’s the best!

How would you compare it to aubrey’s organics honeysuckle rose?

The first time I used this I found it was just too light for my hair, my hair just drank it up. I’m not a mixologist/mixtress at all, but the next time I used it I added honey and olive oil to it. Unbelievably soft hair!

I won’t be using it for deep conditioning anymore because i’m not a fan of having to doctor it up every time I want to dc. I discovered it’s an EXCELLENT moisturizer/leave-in though.

Paula, AOHR is a much better deep conditioner but you get less conditioner and have to pay more money.

I actually mix my AOHR in the Lustrasilk container. I also add coconut oil, hemp seed oil and whatever else I can find. I mix it all up and get the BEST conditioner ever. I can see a huge difference when I mix it with other more natural ingredients.

I agree with Maria, Paula. It’s a good DC, but not as good as HSR (in my humble opinion). I don’t like to add things to my deep conditioners, however, so I won’t be doing that . When I buy something, I expect it to work alone, unless I am doing something like a caramel treatment.

I’ve used a few of the LustraSilk Cholesterol DC. I love them all. I am one of those who loves mixing things with my DC. I usually mix Shea butter, honey, evoo and Herbal Essence Hello Hydration into my DC. My hair absolutely loves it! Every once in a while, I add Elasta QP DRP-11 and that’s heaven in a jar for me!

@ Kamille: I tend to mix together a large batch (enough to last 3-4 months) so that I don’t have to worry abt mixing with every application.
