My husband uses it on his dissecting cellulitis and it keeps them from becoming inflamed. Any black man that deals with disecting cellulitis knows that it can be painful and messy. The coconut oil keeps them bursting and eases the pain.
We use it on our skin and I use it on my scalp. I haven't thought about using it in a spritz, but maybe I will use it in my next concoction I mix up.

I absolutely love coconut oil. I used during my transition and I just did my BC Saturday and am still using it. It keeps my hair moisturized. I've possibly been jipping myself because I primarily use Palmer's Pure Coconut Oil product. It may be more beneficial for me to use the virgin, etc... thanks for this blog it confirmed what I was already doing.

Peace!

I went to Whole Foods this morning and the Extra Virgin that I normally buy was now $14.99 for 16oz. I was reallly not interested in paying that much, so I wondered over to the olive oil aisle and picked a jar of organic virgin for $6.99 for 16oz. Super Walmarts have Virgin, Extra Virgin and Premium but I believe that they are all more expensive than what I paid today. This jar should last me a few months.

First I want to say I love the new look of your blog! I went through the same thing with my coconut oil. I just got tired of it. Then one day I decided to go back. I use it either as a pre-poo or I mix it with a conditioner and it applies easier on my hair. I stopped using it to seal my hair because it was messing up my cellphone LOL I was leaving grease everywhere. I find that adding it to a deep conditioner and then getting under the hair dryer for 30 minutes is just divine.

Speaking of baby oil... I always wondered what it was. I recently looked at the ingredients and it's simply mineral oil and fragrance!

Adzua, do you mean my first jar of it? No it smelled exactly the same as before. It was just me. This happens to me sometimes with products.

Angel click on the link for oil rinsing in the post, it should lead you to another post I made on the subject.

As for cooking with it, there is a theory now that it is ok to cook with it. That is a personal decision that people must make. I'm an olive oil girl myself when it comes to cooking.

Of course you want to use any oil in moderation as it's a big source of calories.

I love coconut oil and I still love the smell! More than anything I love the moisturizing effects. Can you explain oil rinsing for me?

In regards to cooking with coconut oil, it is a saturated fat so it's best to use it with moderation. Cooking with olive oil has similar effects for hair and skin but won't clog your arteries like saturated fats. Just throwing in my two cents :)
