If you don’t know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else.
Laurence J. Peter
Where do you want to end up? I want:
- To gain at least 5 inches. I will more than likely keep my hair at this length if I reach it.
- Keep my hair in mostly protective styles, as usual
- Use heat no more than 4 times this year
- Protect hair from swimming
- Conquer flat twisting, cornrowing, and rollersetting
- Ignore the increasingly negative comments that I’ve been receiving about my hair lately
What are your hair goals for this year? To BC? Retain length? Not spend half of your income on hair products? Share!

About 5 months ago, out of (1) a desire for a new look and (2) frustration because I didn’t know what to do with it anymore, I cut my huge fro (almost two years of growth) down to a half-inch TWA. I love the look of the TWA, but I also want to have more patience with my hair as it grows. So my biggest goal regarding my hair this year is to be patient with it. My second biggest goal is to not fall to the temptation to buy -n-try more products. I already have an arsenal that works! I don’t need more. And my third goal is to deep condition regularly. I don’t think I’ve deep conditioned since August! eep…
I plan on experimenting more with styles instead of just going to my regular twist/flat twist out and wash-n-go. I also plan on using more natural products.
I want my hair to grow, grow, grow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would be satisfied with 3-5 inches of growth this year.
I want to fine tune my hair care regimen. I also need to find products that help with my dry itchy scalp. I don’t want anymore flakes! oh and moisture!
hair goals:
deep condition once a month
keep braid/twists in for 3-4 weeks at a time
rub coconut and other oils on scalp and hair atleast once a week
trim when needed
mosturize mor
non hair goals:
eat healthier
excercise more
read more books
stop procrastinating
write more poetry
deal with stress better
hair goals:
cowash twice a week
finally learn how to do cornrows
finally find the products that work and don’t buy everything under the sun
weekly scalp massages
drink more water and eat healthier
I’m sorry you’ve been receiving negative comments about your hair, KCurly. I think it’s GORGEOUS!
My hair goals are:
1. Focus on keeping my hair healthy and strong.
2. Maintain at least 4 inches of growth.
3. Learn to flat twist and rollerset.
4. Henna every month or every other month.
5. Be gentle!
Hair Goals:
1) Growth, 2 inches would be progress, 4 or 5 would be great
2) Deep Condition more often
3) Learn more styles
Forget all the haters! I think that is probably the most important part of going natural. The rest will happen naturally
let my hair do it’s own thing, ignor ignorant people, when it comes to my hair. keep walking tall and proud to show off my natural healthy hair(nappy,kinky,curly-whatever you want to call it).
My immediate goal is to find a daily moisturizer with natural ingredients that don’t increase my blood pressure. I’m doing a 30-day reprieve from my favorite (KBB’s Hair Milk) to see if my blood pressure lowers, in the meantime I need to find something to put on my hair to keep it moist. Help!
More longer-term goals are to grow my hair, but to accept that it won’t be longer overnight. I really want my coils to drop, but I’ve finally accepted that my hair is growing and it will do what it do in time.
Hair goals:
Retain length with protective styles
Spend less money by finding & sticking with my staple products
Hydrating (my hair and drinking more water)
Hi KCurly!
My hair goals are to retain the length that I gain through more protective styling. Also, to wear my hair in more various styles like flat twists, various updo’s with twists & braids and rollersetting. I’m also for growing some more inches.
Btw, your hair has always been gorgeous to me so screw the hair haters w/their negative comments on your beautiful mane.
KCurly, your site is fantastic! The Bomb actually and your hair is gorgeous!! I have made the decision to go natural again-for the third (and final) time. I will also be taking my mother, who is regrowing her hair after loosing it to chemo (breast cancer) on this journey. I have spent several of the past few weeks (re)educating myself on natural haircare and the wonderful products. My first transition was in 1995 and then locks from 1998-2003, then braids. Second transition was 2006-07 but I thought crazily that having relaxed hair was easier while I worked out. WRONG! So I have been doing short cuts, weaves, and braids for the past couple years.
So, with a new year I am starting anew again. I will be trying alot of the products I have discovered as a result of your fabulous site. I may need a LC but it won’t be much since I have not had a relaxer since earlier this year and my hair was short. I have been inspired looking at your photos and reading the stories. I will keep you updated. Thanks for such a fantastic site.
KayMickey, Have you tried vegetable glycerine and water to moisturize your hair? I know some ppl avoid vegetable glycerine in the winter, but it has been working for me.
My hair goals:
Keep hair moisturized with veg. glycerine and water.
Do weekly hot oil treatments before shampooing.
Do bi-weekly amla treatments.
Wear protective styles as much as possible.
Trim hair every 6 mos or after one year if I do not have many single strand knots and split ends.
Grow 6 additional inches this year.
Girl let the haters hate. That’s what they do best. That only means you are that much more fabulous in all your natural glory. I myself am going to rock my big 10+ inch fro more freely, and harder for this year. And dare all the haters 2 be different,in 2010. ;0)
I will rock my fro too this spring and summer. In the past though, I’ve always had breakage no matter how much I deep condition and moisturize. CessCurls, how do you maintain your big fro?
