Today’s Hair

Yesterday, I went swimming after I did a 2 mile run. I’ve been trying to keep the swimming up to at least once a week, but I’ve been missing it here and there. I’m getting pitiful too, so I need to step it up.

That’s why I decided to put twists in. I’ve been doing a lot of twistouts lately and they are fun,but not conducive to the amount of swimming I want to do. Plus, twists give my hair a nice break for being styled so much.

So I went through my pre-swimming routine ( you can see my whole routine here)of applying a cheapie conditioner  and then wetting it under the shower stream. I put my swim cap on and was good to go. After the swim,I went to the gym lockeroom where I:

  • rinsed my hair thoroughly
  • shampoo’d with Ion Swimmer’s Shampoo. I used it full strength since it’s been awhile since I shampoo’d.
  • wrapped my hair in a towel to get rid of excess water
  • applied Red Palm Oil and put a plastic bag on.  I’d forgotten how messy that particular oil is, but it makes my hair feel oh-so-good!
  • applied my hair wrap so I wouldn’t look like a crazy person with a plastic bag on her head…which I was
  • drove home, rinsed the oil thoroughly (it took awhile)
  • applied Lustrasilk Shea Butter DC, detanlged with my Denman, and put on a plastic bag
  • rinsed after 2 hours
  • twisted with a new hair butter from an up-and-coming new hair products creator. I  won’t give specifics on it, but let’s just say it made my hair into a texture playground

Headwrap after leaving the gym

Detangled with DC applied

It turned out nicely. I’d intended to do these twists on wet hair, but, ended up doing them on dry hair. My hair is incredibly soft with no greasiness at all, just moisture. My twists are so light and full of sheen. I *heart* this butter and am always glad to be part of an experiment, especially yummy ones!

It’s going to be incredibly cold this week so I’m glad my hair is in a protective style.

Your hair looks absolutely gorgeous! I love it! You look like you’re still losing weight also! You look great :)

Glad to see Fleurzty is finally ready to release her butter (sorry if I wasn’t suppose to ruin the surprise. I just assumed).

I love the wrap! I’ve been meaning to buy one, was inspired by Nonie on LHCF.

You and your hair are looking good!

I started growing my perm out May of 07 or 08, I don’t remember, but I only permed my hair about every three months because the blow dryer straightened it pretty good. I am amazed how my hair has grown and the compliments I get when it’s natural and flat ironed. I will post pics soon. My hair is down the middle of my back now.
