So I’m still doing the straight thing. Getting tired of it quick and will probably do a wash n go sometime this weekend. Today I’m rocking a big old messy bun made with two satin scrunchies. (TIP: Satin scrunchies can be found at a lot of BSS and are great for making pony tails and buns if you experience breakage from hair bands. They don’t get the hair as tight as the elastics, but are much more gentle).
I am going to try and do a bun tutorial. Ya’ll please be patient with me, I know I said I was going to do another puff tutorial, but it just hasn’t happened yet. But it will!
So here is my workout hair for this week. I’ve had some reversion near the nape and at the roots a bit, but it’s still ok considering I’ve been sweating like a pig. I did the high ponytail and then banded the rest of my hair.
I also have my trusty headband firmly in place to soak up the sweat.
If you’d like to try this but your hair is too short to get into one ponytail, do 4 or 5, however many you need. Make sure the roots are pulled taunt for when you start sweating.

I love your site and your hair. Just want you to know, though, you mean taut. Taunt is to harass or insult in an instigatory manner. Only mentioning it because I’ve seen you type it that way before.
What kind of headband are you wearing? It looks nice and taut around the hairline. I’ve been looking for a flat band like that. The ones I see at the store are loose on my head and more for decoration than for holding the hair down.
Where oh where is this BSS to get satin scrunchies? I’ve looked in store, but to no avail. The ones I’ve seen that are not cotton don’t hardly look satin, more like… like something else.
I initially decided to go natural because I sweat really bad in my hair. It looks like I just washed my hair when I leave the gym. I did the big chop about two weeks ago and when I leave the gym I co-wash each time. I am not sure if that is the right method. Should I do more to get my hair and scalp clean or is the co-washing method okay? And do I need to wear a headband when I workout? Thanks for your help. By the way, I love your blog. You were one of my inspirations to go natural.
I work out and swim at least twice a week. And with me being so active my hair is always all over the place. I do the wash n go look quite often. I just add a little Janelle Shine and go. Even when I work out my curls smell fresh. And when I’m flaunting my figure and wanna be cutsie, I straighten my hair with my flat-iron and hurry and wrap it at night so it stays straight. I can do this for about 4 weeks until it’s time for me another Diva Smooth treatment. But I like how you said pull hair back and and put a headband on the edges to keep it straight. Thanks for the tip… I will be giving that a try tomorrow at the gym!
