Moni's Awesome Braidout!
Hi Kcurly,
First, I want to say that I love your blog! It’s definitely one of my favorites. Now that the weather is warmer, I’m wearing my hair out in my signature braidout (picture attached). Do you have any suggestions for a good daily moisturizer? I’d like something light, either a lotion or cream, to use on my hair when I rebraid it in large braids at night. I’m looking for something close to a hair milk, definitely not a spray. Thanks for your help!
Cheers,
Moni
Moni, first of all your braidout is on fiyah! Just off the top of my head here are several suggestions for a light cream/lotion you might like for the warmer weather.
KBB Hair Nectar or KBB Hair Milk (Most people say the Nectar is lighter, though I’m the odd man out on that one)
Coconut Oil (Used sparsely of course)
Maybe some of the ladies here can give you more recommendations. Thanks for reading!

Wow you hair is fierce!!!!!!!!
I just started using this, so I can’t say for sure long-term…I am digging SheaNaturals Leave-in Conditioner! It’s a great consistency and the ingredients are nice.
Okay OOPPS! I just totally butchered the name. It’s SHEAMOISTURE Restorative Conditioner. It says you can use it as a leave-in, and I’m in the trial stages now. It’s at Target for $10 and it comes in a pump bottle.
I also like Giovanni’s 50/50 as a leave in. That’s been a staple of mine for nearly a year.
Very effective moisturizer-Hydratherma Natural’s Daily Moisturizing Growth Lotion! I love it. It can be found at Healthyhairjourney.com.
Thanks for posting my question and the compliments on my hair! I love GB BRBC, but ran out a while ago and didn’t reorder. I think I’m going to get some more when they have their spring sale. I haven’t tried the Knot Today as anything other than a leave-in, so maybe that’s an option as well (that doesn’t require shipping). I went to Target this weekend, and picked up Shea Moisture Hibiscus Milk. It’s ok (not great), so I’ll continue to use it until my QB comes. Thanks for your help!
I have been trying to figure out the same thing! But I would prefer a cream or lotion that doesn’t have to be ordered on line. The best I’ve found for twistouts now is cantu shea leave in mixed with olive oil but I think that is mostly protein and would love to have something else.
