A lot of you have expressed concern/interest in my first appointment. Thanks so much for the concern, I love you guys!
First, let me say that this little baby has been kicking my butt. I was a bit queasy with my son, but this time around I have actually *gulp* vomited. Quite a lot. The first time was after a 3 mile run. I came into the house, drank some water, and promptly lost it all. Swimming lead to a similar situation as well as extreme dizziness. I have, as a result, decided to stop running and swimming as of now.
So that means my May 22nd triathlon is not going to happen.
I was really upset at first, but baby comes first and there is no sense in me putting myself through that when I can just wait and train for a triathlon after the baby comes. I have been walking intensively, even though I have to make myself most days, and still doing toned-down strength training. My goal is still not to gain more than 10-15 lbs this pregnancy.
I feel like I’ve had the flu for 3 weeks. Most days it’s all I can do to crawl out of bed. At work I’m a whiny lump and I know that my coworkers are giving me the side eye.
Anyway, back to the appointment. The heart rate was 138, which is what I was waiting for ( Before my son, I was pregnant and the baby’s heart rate was in the 70s…when this happens, it’s usually indicative of incoming miscarriage. I lost that baby, so that first heart rate is super important to me!) and everything looked good so far.
They gave me some meds for nausea before I left. I really didn’t want to take these, but they’ve helped me a lot, though nothing takes it away completely.
Despite all of the complaining in this post, I am very happy about my little bean.
On to the hurrrr:
It is past time to wash out my flat ironed hair. It’s still not really humid here, so I’m considering a straw/rod set. If not that, then twists on dry hair.

So happy that all went well on your first appointment.
{{Hugs}}
glad everything good! im so excited for you! *hugs*
I was waiting for this update. I feel like a cyber auntie
I’m glad everything went well with the appointment. You’re still walking so that’s really good! I applaud you for that. I had to slow down also with Ty. I was jogging 4 days/week for 3-4 miles before I got pregnant with him. I couldn’t keep it up!
Get plenty of rest (as much as you can with a 3-yr. old) and don’t overdo it!
I found that switching to an all-natural pre-natal took away my morning sickness. I was nauseous a lot with Ty before switching to an all-natural prenatal, and that made all the difference.
Keep the updates coming! Much love to you and the family
I so feel for you, hun! I went through the same thing being pregnant while raising my active three-year old. For the first 5 months you will feel like you have been rode hard and hung wet but it does get better! Take cat naps during lunch and breaks and go to BED at night instead of the millions of other things we moms do while our children are asleep! Milk this for all it is worth with the hubby ;P Three years after my last child, we still have our housekeeper that was only supposed to “take up the slack” just after the baby was born. I’m bad, I know!
Many Congrats! I find that each child does something different! It’s like they have their own personality from conception!
Awww, i want a baby…Did i just say that, lol.
Congrats!
Great News…and get some rest.
Congrats! So good to read the positive update. Keep’ em coming.
Congratulations! Keep us updated.
On the nausea, my doctor for my first suggested I take my prenatals at night before bed (?). I was sick as a dog too, so I feel you on that one, but it is sooo worth it! Will keep you and family in my prayers.
Congrats,
but a healthier weight gain goal would be 25-35 lbs. This ensures the baby is getting the nutrients it needs, and you aren’t gaining excess weight. Talk to your OBGYN. exercise is fine so long as you were doing it previously, and aren’t overdoing it. your body will let you know when it’s too much. Congrat’s and good luck.
Congrats to you what do you do for “toned-down strength training” i just h ad my 3rd child last month and i would like todo some toning and strength training without bulking up
HDM, 25-35 would be ok if I were already normal weight, but I am overweight. The recommended guidelines are 10-15 for women already overweight.
Yay KCurly! Good heartbeat! You just go with ya bad self! LOL I’m sooo pleased for you. Sorry your little jelly bean has you so sick and out of it though, that’s all bad. I’m living this through you, no kiddo’s of my own, so I really appreciate you being so open and willing to share such a private part of your life.
Keep up that intense walking, still trying to get myself off the couch in the evenings! LOL
Hi K Curly, Aw get you some gingerale and no sodium saltine crackers this worked well for sometimes for the nausea. My oldest daughter was my sickest pregnancy.
If I drank water I was sick and the was given some
medicine for the nausea. Once the nausea left the
only foods I could digest was cheeseburgers, roast beef and spinach, mash potatoes and collard greens. She came here a healthy 8lbs 10 oz. Remember one thing this too shall pass and get plenty of rest and no jogging. Take care and good luck to you.
If you are able try drinking peppermint or ginger tea for your nausea symptoms it really works. Also, suck on ginger chews or drops from the health food store. Wishing you the best on your pregnancy. Debs! Thankyou for all of your informative information on health and natural hair tips.
Awww…look at your little peanut!! Congratulations! Girl, I know you were not trying to still do a triathalon. Sprinkling some happy pregnancy dust on you. Keep us posted. My youngest is 13 yrs old so I know there’s no more for me but I can still live vicariously through you the remainder of your pregnancy. Congrats again, preggo!
So happy to hear all is well!!! I just had my 3rd daughter in December, and I was sick just like that with all three, so I’m throwing down the gauntlet that you’re having a girl!!
The ONLY thing that helped me was to keep something on my stomach and to snack throughout the day – even if it was just a saltine cracker or two! Congrats, and get some rest…
Congratulations….sending positive vibes your way!!
