New Years Hair Resolutions and a new challenge!

in 101 Twisted Styles

What are your hair plans this coming year? Where do you want your hair to be this time next year? What hairstyle are you ringing in the new year with?

Here are my answers!

I plan to retain length and get to MBL (mid back length) this year. I don’t have very long way to go. After I hit MBL, I’m not sure what I’ll do. I am thinking of cutting it back to a TWA or just shorter for the summer, but we shall see.

I also plan on keeping my hair pinned up/off my shoulders at least 5 days a week, along with continuing my other hair care practices.

I’m ringing in the New Year with twists, of course!

They are still a bit damp in this picture. I will be pinning them up to keep my ends protected.

So, speaking of twists: I’ve had a challenge I’d like to start that’s been on my mind for awhile. I’d call it 101 Twisted Styles.

Ya’ll know I love twists: They are a great protective style and they can last a long time. I also think they are one of the most versatile hairstyle possibilities  out there. I’ve done a lot of different styles while my hair is twisted, but I feel I can do more. I also feel that some people get frustrated by wearing  twists because they get in a rut.

Therefore, I’m asking you ladies to send in your unique twisted style pictures along with a brief explanation of how you styled it. If you have a tutorial available, even better! I will provide the link to your tutorial. All of the styles will be featured here. I will be posting my own styles soon.

I don’t know if we can round up 101 styles or if anyone will participate, but it will be fun trying :)

Happy New Year everyone!

happy new years!! im gonna start the new year back to my amber rose cut THIS month, im 15 months strong and it stretches juuuust to my collarbone. i know some folks think im crazy to grow it this long and cut it ALL off to start fresh but i miss those simple days of twa stages! my motto…its just hair and it’ll obviously grow back :)

I need to resume baggying my hair and protecting my ends more. I also need to stop snapping out single strand knots…yikes..ultimate goal for 2011 – bra strap length…not too far to go!

btw your hair is aaahhh-mazing….

A Happy Blessed New-Year To All…. My hair goal is to nurse my hair to a super healthy and rope strong state incorporating herbal hair care. Upon me feeling comfortable with the length I should obtain from the excellent care, I plan on cutting-off all the damaged and frayed ends…

This year I plan to continue the min twist sets I have put in heavy rotation the past couple of months. I’m at a steady collarbone length stretched. And I really, really, really want to be collarbone length unstretched….sigh, I have quite a ways to go. I too get stuck in a rut while my twists are in but my hair grows like BANANAS when its twisted so…..I’m very excited to see the 101 styles. Happy New Years Diva’s!!

The hair stylists we work with at manhattanmakeovers.com feel that everyone should consider a new style for 2011! We are suggesting a retro bouffant or modified beehive look, like the styles you see on all-girl bands such as The Crystals or The Ronettes. Can you dig that?

I BC’d on New Year’s Eve! I did a long transition, so I have a good amount of natural hair, just about SL stretched. I’m focusing on growing my hair healthy, keeping it moisturized, retaining length and maybe getting to APL in 2011, and wearing twists and protective styles.

1. To wear more protective styles. I love braidouts but I know I have to throw in some protective styles a few times a week to see more retention.

2. Finally get rid of cones. This is a really big one because they work so well at detangling, but coat my hair something awful leaving it drier that if I didn’t use them. I gotta stock up on my ceramide oils to ease the transition.

KCurly your hair always looks so nice and healthy. I’m running into an issue with mositure for my coarse hair. What do you recommand? My hair tends to be soo dry after a few days of washing, conditioning and twisting it, and once I take the twist down the following week it sounds like paper it’s so dry. Please help
