We have Bettina to thank for these next two twisted styles! I love them!
Cornrowed up the back and along one side. Two strand twists on one side. Spray bottle with water and coconut oil + essential oils gel to smooth and hold the twists and cornrows.
Wore the twists pinned up or hanging down.
And…
Blowdried hair. Spray bottle with water and a mixture of coconut oil and other essential oils used as ‘gel’ to hold the twists in the front. The back is twisted and secured with rubber bands and then bobby pins.
I used moisturizer, peanut oil, a rat tail, a wide tooth, and rubber bands to accomplish this style. Using my sisters real natural hair, I cornrowed half her head, then did simple two strand twists on the side. She got SOOOOOO many compliments on this style. A cute style that’s a bit out of the ordinary. Enjoy
Oh yes, I do enjoy, thank you ma’am! You have got some skills!
If you have a hairstyle that involves two or three strand twists you’d like to share, please send it to me at kcurly@newlynatural.com . Just be sure it’s not a style that is already featured.
What are your hair plans this coming year? Where do you want your hair to be this time next year? What hairstyle are you ringing in the new year with?
Here are my answers!
I plan to retain length and get to MBL (mid back length) this year. I don’t have very long way to go. After I hit MBL, I’m not sure what I’ll do. I am thinking of cutting it back to a TWA or just shorter for the summer, but we shall see.
I also plan on keeping my hair pinned up/off my shoulders at least 5 days a week, along with continuing my other hair care practices.
I’m ringing in the New Year with twists, of course!
They are still a bit damp in this picture. I will be pinning them up to keep my ends protected.
So, speaking of twists: I’ve had a challenge I’d like to start that’s been on my mind for awhile. I’d call it 101 Twisted Styles.
Ya’ll know I love twists: They are a great protective style and they can last a long time. I also think they are one of the most versatile hairstyle possibilities out there. I’ve done a lot of different styles while my hair is twisted, but I feel I can do more. I also feel that some people get frustrated by wearing twists because they get in a rut.
Therefore, I’m asking you ladies to send in your unique twisted style pictures along with a brief explanation of how you styled it. If you have a tutorial available, even better! I will provide the link to your tutorial. All of the styles will be featured here. I will be posting my own styles soon.
I don’t know if we can round up 101 styles or if anyone will participate, but it will be fun trying
Thanks for reading! Remember that our hair is a gift and that it can blossom and grow if we take good care of it. If you have questions, want to share your story, or just want to say hi, please email me at kcurly@newlynatural.com
