Review:
I bought this based on recommendations of ladies on Naturallycurly.com. I had my doubts.
Activator gel? Huh?
When I used to think of activator gel, visions of Soul Glo would start dancing through my head. I imagined that it would be a greasy mess. But I tried it and I really liked it. This is by far the best gel I’ve come across that I can buy locally. It does not have the shine that Fantasia IC w/sparkle lites can give me, but my hair actually feels hydrated when I use it.
If you’ll notice, the first two ingredients are water and glycerin. What more could a girl ask for? I didn’t really like the smell (kind of reminds me of an old man), but it didn’t linger once it was in my hair and it wasn’t very strong to begin with.
I’ve used this on a wash n go, fingercoils, and twists. I prefer it more for the wash n go and fingercoils. The twists felt a bit greasy and gummy to me afterward, even though I tried to be light with it.
Will I buy this again? Maybe. I am trying to use more natural products, but if I’m in a pinch financially, this will fit the bill.
Remember: Long term use of gel is not always healthy for the hair.
