Review:

Another product from the new Mirra line.  I really wanted to like this because it came in such a pretty bottle. However, the first time I used it was during my protein overload episode and things did not turn out well. So, I gave it two more chances before making my decision.

It’s fairly moisturizing (and I mean fairly), but not enough slip for detangling. The scent was nice, it spread on easily, has no cones that I can see, but the slip was subpar.

I may try this as a leave in at some point and if I do, I will update this post. It is paraben free, formaldehyde donor free and has a few natural ingredients. And  also reasonably priced.

However, it’s just not going to be a regular for me.

Company Name: Mirra

Product Name: Daily Moisture and Shine Pomade

Consistency: Extremely thick

Scent: Light, fruity

Price: 4 0z 4-5 dollars

Ingredients: Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, hydrogenated vegetable oil, vegetable oil, hydrogenated castor oil, hydrogenated castor oil/sebacic acid copolymer, shea butter, caryocar brasiliense fruit oil, astrocaryum murumuru seed butter, euterpe oleracea fruit oil, fragrance.

Purchase from: Kroger

I have to give props to Kroger for trying. I was very surprised to see the ingredient list actually have mostly natural ingredients, though I’m sure they’re not in their purest forms.

The scent is lovely, slightly sweet and fruity. It’s a pomade, so it’s thick. I’d thought it be more like Oyin’s Burnt Sugar Pomade, but it’s actually more dense…it reminds me more of shea butter in consistency. It also has a bit of graininess to it like shea butter can.

It’s extremely heavy.  I used it on my scalp and it took it awhile to sink in but it was quite soothing going on. I liked it so-so for sealing. My suggestion is to use a very small amount. Not particularly moisturizing, but again, so-so.

For the price and availability, I found this to be a great find.

Mirra–New Products from Kroger

I once again turned into the hair care isle of the grocery store only to be plesantly surprised by a new line from Kroger called Mirra. It’s all “natural” which means though the ingredients aren’t all that terrible, there’s still a lot of ingredients I can’t pronounce. Here’s the scoop from the Kroger website:

Kroger is proud to introduce mirra, our easy to use, exclusive health and beauty care brand for family-focused women seeking effortless beauty. Mirra combines quality, natural ingredients with the latest science to meet 3 different needs: Daily – routine personal care; Renew – a rejuvenating time out; and Inspire – quick transformations for a night out.

and:

Designed to make hair look and feel it’s best, mirra Daily shampoos and conditioners are professionally formulated to adapt to your hair’s unique needs: Smoothing, Volumizing, and Color Treated. Mirra products contain sunflower extract, soy protein, amino acids, and chicory root, along with other ingredients, to counteract the harsh effects of hard water and restore a healthy PH balance to your hair – allowing your hair to reach its full potential. Styling products provide moisture, shine, and hold.*

The packaging is eye catching and bright, the price is slightly higher than my Suave but not salon product prices.

They are offering more than just hair products, but that’s all I care to sample for now. They are silicone,  I will be reviewing the Mirra Smoothing Conditioner, Pomade, and Gel over the next few days. All of which were each on special for about 4 bucks roughly. If you go to the Kroger website, there is a coupon for 5 dollars off.

Oh! I forgot to mention that I’ve officially done over 100 product reviews. Does this call for a celebration or immediate entry into Product Junkie Anonymous?
