Hello my name is Abeni (kinkyhairedlady.blogspot.com) and here are a couple of pics of my best twist out. The twist out is my staple product come rain or sunshine. I just love the big-ness of it and how overwhelming it can be to others.

I am wearing a bun this weekend. I call it my “Banded Bun” and am currently working on a video tutorial on it. I hope to have it up sometime this weekend. Life has been a little busy!

Somehow, my braidout is still hanging in there but just barely. This weekend has been crazy for me. I had to spend the night at a hotel unexpectedly, so I pulled my hair back in a puff loosely with a scarf for the last few days. It’s frizzy and less defined, but it works.
I hope to do my hair tomorrow. Something I am realizing is that in these dry winter months, I can not rely on spritzes to remoisturize my hair. They are great for the summer, but I need something heavy right now. I’ve been sticking mostly to creams and butters for moisture at this time.
Here’s a few things you can expect in the next coming weeks:
- A pictorial or video tutorial…I’m not sure which!
- An interview with Jane Carter of Jane Carter Solutions! It was my first phone interview and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it!
- Reviews of the Bee Mine product line. Mook (see her fotki here for some beautiful styles) has been singing their praises and I finally took the plunge!
- More accessory stuff!
One last note, I have been slacking off going through my spam folder, so if you notice your comments have not been posted, that is probably why. I am going to try to check the folder at least every other day.
Foreword: I’m copycatting Fleurtzy over at Texture Playground, she just did a beautiful braidout.
I got done swimming and didn’t feel like putting in twists. So, after a DC, I spritzed my hair with a homemade spritz, applied Afroveda Totally Twisted, and detangled each section with my Denman. I then braided largish sections, just fingerparting and grabbing. I sealed the braids with coconut oil. I let it air dry and then took it apart separating gently. I’m so happy that my hair is long enough that this looks ok now. When it was shorter, if I tried to do braids this large for a braid out, it wouldn’t have enough definition.

Awwww! This is just wrong on so many levels!
So, even the lion, who sports one of the most awesome fros in the animal kingdom, has to be altered by the creamy crack. Venezel is a Japanese straightening product and this is probably one of the most, um, creative (?) relaxer ads I’ve ever seen.
It also makes a good point. Relaxers just ain’t natural! That poor lion! LOL!
