Loretta, you won “Your Natural Hair Journal”! Congrats and happy journaling! Send me you information at kcurly@newlynatural.com and I’ll get it out to you soon.

- Newly Natural has a Facebook page. Yes, I have fully crossed over to the dark side. Please “Like” me if you do, in fact, like me
I will be posting hairstyles, articles, and other tidbits. Maybe even a few giveaways!
- Some of you noticed that the Search feature was not working and I apologize. It’s working now so search away!
- It’s almost a New Year and it’s a great time to evaluate your goals for the coming year. Here are my goals:
- Reach full waist length. I haven’t really retained any length in the last few months. I need to work on that.
- I’ve flat ironed last night but no more heat until June of this year. Six months heat free!
- Protective styles as always
- Perfect cornrowing and rollersets (or at least not such as much at them)
What are your goals for the coming year? Any BC’ers? Anybody weaving it up for a few months? Share, ladies!
First thing’s first: I’m still trying to compile the twisted hair styles . It’s coming along at a steady clip, but I need more! I would especially like some shorter hairstyles, but all are welcome
Here are two of my own that I just recently added.
A low side ponytail with goody ouchless band. Very simple.

And
Side bun with flower accessory
Close up of bun
In other news, I’m still working on my twisting on dry hair video, so you can expect that (hopefully) in the next week or so. You can also stay tuned for a few giveaways I have in store!
Finally, I have been asked to be a judge for the America’s Next Natural Model competition! You can learn more about the competition, which is totally online, here. If you haven’t already, I strongly encourage you to check out the ladies who are participating. There are some wonderful styles and personalities being showcased!
Sort of.
I have a lot of behind the scenes stuff to do. I also just need a small vacation from blogging. I still have so many posts in me and not enough time (lately) to sit down and write them.
I also want to answer a lot of the emails and comments that I’ve neglected lately.
I’ll be back in a few days, probably with a giveaway

Somehow, my braidout is still hanging in there but just barely. This weekend has been crazy for me. I had to spend the night at a hotel unexpectedly, so I pulled my hair back in a puff loosely with a scarf for the last few days. It’s frizzy and less defined, but it works.
I hope to do my hair tomorrow. Something I am realizing is that in these dry winter months, I can not rely on spritzes to remoisturize my hair. They are great for the summer, but I need something heavy right now. I’ve been sticking mostly to creams and butters for moisture at this time.
Here’s a few things you can expect in the next coming weeks:
- A pictorial or video tutorial…I’m not sure which!
- An interview with Jane Carter of Jane Carter Solutions! It was my first phone interview and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it!
- Reviews of the Bee Mine product line. Mook (see her fotki here for some beautiful styles) has been singing their praises and I finally took the plunge!
- More accessory stuff!
One last note, I have been slacking off going through my spam folder, so if you notice your comments have not been posted, that is probably why. I am going to try to check the folder at least every other day.
I know I’m not one of the “big name” bloggers, but guess what, I’m not completely stupid. Some people have been trying to come on this blog and (pretty much) get free advertising. If you read my disclaimer, you will see that no advertising is allowed in the comment section. I do not mind people who love a product or website raving about it, but other things have been going on. Sneaky things.
I do not appreciate people coming here and posting, pretending to be a customer of a certain business, when you are the owner of said company/website. I also do not appreciate people pretending to be more than one person to “back up” their viewpoint on issues. Please be an adult. And remember that I can see your IP addresses and emails.
I hate to sound harsh and I like to think that I am a nice person, but stuff like this really gets to me. Especially when I have a business owner series that is pretty much free advertising and showcases businesses.
If you do want to advertise legitimately, contact me. I just recently had to take down my blog from my sig over on LHCF. Do I mind? No…because that is their rule. And I’m going to respect it.
Please respect my wishes.
I am easily approachable and, as I said above, will feature many businesses here. I understand that people are trying to get their “hustle” on, but I don’t appreciate duplicity.
First, and most importantly, God bless the poor souls in Haiti. I won’t be redudant and repost some of the same info that is being highlighted on blogs/forums, but if you are interested in donating and haven’t done so, please visit Fleurtzy’s blog Texture Playground. She has a list of charitable organizations on a recent post. Haiti is/was her home and I know she is hurting right now. Go show her some love and support if you have time
Second, having said all that, be careful of where you give your money. Unfortunately, there are a lot of unscrupulous people who await opportunities like this to steal money from those who mean well.
Having said all THAT, I must bring to the attention of you generous ladies the recent investigation into Wyclef Jean’s organization.Much as I love that man’s music, articles such as this one are making me somewhat leery of giving money to this particular group. I encourage everyone to make educated choices in what charity you donate to so that the money can actually make it to those in need.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not bad talking Wyclef. He is after all a musician and not an accountant. Things could be going on that he has no idea of. However, I don’t see that it makes a difference as long as it is done. Just please be aware.
Finally, and least importantly in the light of all that is going on, I am so very behind on my emails. I am working hard to answer them, so, once again, please be patient with Kcurly.
Take care, much love, and continue to pray for those (here and abroad) in peril and need.
