Products I Love

I do a lot of product reviews and though I might like a product a lot, it doesn’t mean that I will use it on a regular basis. Here are the products that are usually in my rotation. I have not reviewed a few of these, but I will update as I add reviews.

How do I choose my products?

  • Must have a pleasant smell
  • Must have mostly quality ingredients and no silicones (unless straightening)
  • Must leave my hair feeling relatively soft
  • Must be a reasonable price
  • Available locally is a plus, but not a requirement

Have you ever tried or have heard anything about Boots Curl Creme? Its not sold in the US but its in the UK. I know you prefer investing in products that are available locally but I am trying to find natural women who have used this product. I have tried KCCC and am not a fan of it nor its price. I love the KCKT though, and you’re dead on with the AOHSR! I love Aubrey Organics. My goal is to find my staples and stop shopping!!!! So I am still on a hunt for a great shampoo and awesome curl defining product, be it gel, puddy, pudding, custard, cream or whatever is out there.

Love your site btw :->

Hi Kcurly,
I am 14 years old and transitioning to natural hair. My hairline has been badly effected by relaxers and bad hair care. What do you recommend I use to get back a healthy, full hairline?

Love your site!! Wondering do you use any type of bees wax on your finger coils so they don’t so much shrinkage. I’ve read that bees wax puts a little wgt on the hair therefore stopping some of the shrinkage. Any suggestions???

Your hair is lovely. What is the protein treatment that you use on your hair and how often do you use it?

Hi kcurly, Im transitioning since mid July,have the same thickness and I think texture of your hair,I’m not sure what pattern yet though because I haven’t bc yet but will soon. Anyway to help with transitioning I’ve just started using Wen cleansing conditioners,have you ever tried Wen? If so what did you think? I know it’s all natural and have oils and styling creams in the line aswell as a few other prouducts. So far I’ve Bern using the tea tree because I’ve had itchy scalp issues with dandruff for years and decided I wanted to stomp thus out once and for all along with and unnatural chemicals in my hair. This is the first tea tree hair prouduct that actually seems to be working! I haven’t seen dandruff since I started using it and the itchiness has lowered considerably! Although this could be attributed to me sleeping with a satin cap on instead of wrapping like I used to,the wrapping may have been causing my scalp to sweat and maybe excess moisture and fungus,etc. The tea tree really tingles my scalp too which I looove and can’t get from a lot of other tea tree prouducts that say they do. I ordered the tea tree oil to do an overnight treatment and also will be trying another flavor soon called fig that’s supposed to be really great for dry,thicker,kinky textured hair types. Also when you wash your hair do you part it up in 4 and do it section by section? My hair is thick and while I’m transitioning thus us the only way I can handle it and I’m wondering if this is the normal way natural hair us washed anyway to avoid having a big jumbled tangled ball on top of our heads? Love your blog, i’m learning a lot!

Oh p.s. I’m using the Wen because I’ve always heard shampooing isn’t good for your hair because it strips it but can you just continue without soap at all as a natural?

What protein treatments, if any, do you recommend?
